2022 1500 Wheel Shake and Vibration, and Towing Issue

I have a high country and have removed the adaptive ride control fuse with no change in vibration at highway speeds. I have driven in L9 which the internet says disables the DFM and still vibrates.

My 2019 High country with NHT (max towing package) 6.2 did NOT vibrate

I returned to the dealership and found out that my truck has been sitting there for over two weeks for investigations on the vibration issue. I have a GMC case open for this. Last week, they called me and said they could not replicate the issue, which I found trivial. I requested to ride with the technician again, and they agreed. During the ride, we reached a speed of 64+ and the vibration started. The technician claimed he could not feel it, so I took the keys and placed them on my leg, showing him how they were vibrating like crazy. I also pointed out that the passenger mirror was still while the driver's mirror was shaking like crazy. Finally, they agreed to do some more in-depth inspections, which I found puzzling as to why they didn't do that from the beginning. I'm waiting to see what comes next.

By the way, I received a link from GMC where you can open a dispute and get it settled if you have a car issue and it's still under warranty.

Half cup or bottle of liquid in cup holder will show it also on mine.

Thank you very much for the update, and the link. I will look into opening a file with the BBB on my issue.

Oh, and I almost forgot - I think the dealerships are told to have the tech that rides with you pretend to not notice the vibration, because your experience sounds exactly like mine. And, I, too, have a GM case, which was opened when I had 11 miles on my truck. Since then I've learned that GM's case management people do nothing for you but try to calm you down so you think they're helping, so you don't proceed further and potentially seek legal remedies.

Exact same issue happening with my 2024 Sierra Denali Ultimate. I am taking it to the dealership one more time and then I am getting a lawyer involved. This is insane for an 87K truck to ride like this. It ain't right.

Did anyone find a resolution to this problem? I have my 2023 Silverado 3.0 in the shop now for this problem. They have checked, driveshaft balance, cab and engine mounts, axle run out, torque converter lock up and pinion angles. I’m really starting to believe it has something to do with the ARC as most of the people I see commenting have that on their trucks. Like most I have dealt with the wheels and tire solution to not fix. My OEM wheels had the shake and 2 set of aftermarket wheels and 3 set of tires later I still have the shake. All my road force numbers are great. The dealership placed my wheels and tires on another truck with ARC and that truck would shake. I’m going to ask them now to place my wheels and tires on a truck without it and see if it shakes. They also placed the other trucks oem wheels on my truck and my shake is still there. Any help would be appreciated. GM field tech believes it’s my level kit but I know it is not that.

Take the leveling kit out and re-test. Prove them wrong.

Leveling kits cause issues on these trucks, with or without ARC.

While leveling kits can cause issues, your leveling kit is not causing this issue. I've been through 3 different dealerships, 2 GMC, 1 Chevrolet, at the recommendation of the case manager at GM itself, and they all went through the same gyrations, until a GM field tech was finally called in to do what they do best: Stamp the case as being "normal for this type of vehicle", seemingly to try to setup a legal defense. If it was "normal" why did they have me go to 3 dealerships and have a field tech come out?

FWIW, the service manager at the Chevy dealership personally inspected the shocks to ensure something wasn't stuck up under their "sleeves", too, because he was puzzled by it. But, once the field tech came out, the service manager's hands were tied.

I have two sets of OEM Denali wheels. Stock 22" and 20" with stock tires. Although the vibration is still there with the 20s on the truck, it's a little less noticeable so I run the 20s for the dry season. Because the stock 22" tires are way better for wet conditions than the pseudo-AT stock tires on the 20s, I suffer the more noticeable vibrations and run the 22s for the wet season. I'm a little more fortunate than the next guy, I think, because mine vibrates between 68 - 81mph, so I tend to drive at least 84 mph on freeways, true to my forum username. While I'm living with this vibration for now, I will never buy a GM 1500 truck again. None of my friends with 2500s have this issue. Even so, if I ever buy any GM product again, it won't be without being able to take the exact vehicle I would buy for an overnight demo, so I can put it through its paces.

Regarding ARC, ARC seems to cause fast vibrations, like reveberations, when you encounter little road imperfections. I'm sure you experience it, because when I was test driving models, I noticed that all ARC-equipped models did this, regardless of engine model. The WT and AT4 models I drove did not do this. But, at the time, I did not notice the high-speed vibration, and I wanted a truck that with the best handling and ride, which is why I went with the Denali. But, I think other people who posted on these threads have non-ARC vehicles, so I stopped chasing the theory of it being ARC-related.

Luckily the dealership I took it to and the service manager have been great to work with. He also said he doesn’t believe it is the level kit and trying to work through good will money to have my shocks replaced and that would cover taking out the level kit and retesting to see if it removes the vibration. Reason I don’t believe it is the level kit is I took the truck in at 3000 miles with a vibration on the oem 22” wheels that came with the truck. The road forced them and it made it a little better. I wanted 18” wheels to give me a little more tire and went aftermarket. That is when the shake really came out and the first set of wheels and tires were prior to me installing the level kit. Got a brand new set of lock off road wheels and Toyo at 3 tires and still have the shake. Once again everyone said it has to be the tire so I got another set of toyo tires put on the truck and still have it. It sounds like GM has a problem with these trucks but no solution so they just consider it “normal”. I will come back and give an update if they ever find a solution.

I have taken out the ARC fuse and no difference was made to mine highway vibration still present, but is unknown to me what removing the power does to the ARC. MY25 currently has 25k miles and have noticed it is 30-50% less than was new. MY24 that i traded in did the exact same and that one is the truck i attempted to fix with no change.

One thought would be to try Centramatic Balancers. I have them behind my heavy (69 lbs) Falken AT4W tires and so far so good,

Hey Kevin, good to hear you're still on this thread. Regarding the reduction, are you sure you've not just gotten a little more "used to it"? I have 39k now on my 22.5, and the shake hasn't changed, but I've come to be more accepting of it, so to speak.

BTW, can you do me a favor? When driving, I put my hand up on the upper rear corner of the driver's door, where it meets the cab, and feel vibration between the door and the frame. Not a gap, per se, and certainly no wind noise. Do you feel that, too? Just wondering if all doors do that, kind of like the little play in the tailgate when shut. And, if they all do that maybe the culmination of it all contributes to the vibration we all feel, because it would have to be a high wind on all those parts before we feel it, and why we don't feel it until freeway speeds. I also notice if there is a strong crosswind, I don't feel the shake nearly as much, so wondering it it might be just shoddy tolerances everywhere. Hope that makes sense. Yes, I am reaching here!
