Testing Engine Oil

Does any one know a company that does testing of engine oil, I think that I might have a head gasket that is leaking water into the oil. It takes about 60 days for the overflow tank to get low. When I check the oil it is never over full but if the water is getting into the combustion chamber some residue will get into the oil. Thanks for any help.

I have all my oil tested at BlackStone labs. You can go here for free oil sample kit

They have really good turn around time. I have sent mine in on a Monday and gotten an e-mail reading in pdf format by Wed. Really fast service. The price isn't to bad. I get a full report with TBN and a reading from Dyson Analysis and that is $35. Take the $5 off that if you don't want Dyson Analysis to read the report.

There are others out there. If you do a search in Google a few will pop up. Oil Analysers is another company. I just used Blackstone because of what I read on Bobistheoilguy.com, of fast, and friendly service.

Taking a sample is how I found out about my head gasket leak on our 02 Venture. Warranty paid for it at least.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

Another option is an SOS oil analysis. Buy the bottle for about eleven buck and it goes to Fabco in Depere WI. The kit can be gotten from Peterbilt Wisconsin or a Fabco store. 800-356-6146 is Peterbilt is Madison Wisconsin. Part number is SK-810
