I know others have done it with older pickups with out any problems. One guy i know didnt even reflash the 5.3 ECU

I want to say no?  Because the 6.0 is Gen 4 LS and the 5.3 is Gen 5 LT so they are wired up differently a good bit.  I'm sure the ECM would be a problem as well.

If you found a gen 5 6.2 or even a new 6.6 gas HD those would probably plug right in I'd like to think and would be just change the base state of tune for the appropriate engine.

I'm more just looking for options without the lifters etc on 5.3 or 6.2.

If thats all just change your oil sooner at 50% life. If its still going after 8 years I would also say your past any lifter issues

Yes with the engines being 2 different generations you would need some defendant computer work on the whole system... IDK if it would be worth it

No possible, completely different engine compared to the LT engine it came from the factory with. The computer could never control a port fuel injected engine.

5.3 (L83), 6.2 (L86) or 6.6 are the only options you have, those are all LT based.

Anything you do with a AFM/DoD delete or going to a 6.2/6.6 would require tuning and knowing what parts you have to buy/swap over to make it work.

I have already done the lifters, then two weeks later  a lifter failed again on each side. in same two cylinders as before.  Thinking there may be something up with the bore the lifters are in, or just multiple crappy lifters.  currently have a deactivation module in, but I have heard those can cause problems as well.

truck has 185,000 km (114,885 miles)  already spent $4700 on lifters.  was thinking to drive this motor as long as possible with deactivation module in, then replacing engine, and doing afm delete on that one before installing.   Or how much life could I expect if I did the afm delete now on this motor?  planning to keep the truck for a while
