PhillG Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Having issues with my automatic running boards intermittently not coming out or not coming out at all. Does anyone know if it’s possible to take them off and replace with standard stationary running boards.
MikeBMW Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Are you referencing the stock extending running boards on a Denali? 1
PhillG Posted June 18, 2023 Author Posted June 18, 2023 It’s on a 2017 1500 High Country. It’s the kind that have the articulating arms that move out and back. Not the mounts that move down. 1
Richard Carrillo Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 I had issues with the drivers side running board as well. I have a 2018 Silverado High Country 4x4. I bought a new motor and installed it myself. It’s starting to have the same issues. My next step is to replace them with regular running boards. 1
PhillG Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 Everything I’ve been able to find and read about them is the bushing seize up. Then the motors can’t overcome the resistance from the bushings and end up burning up the motor. I’m not sure if the frame had the mounting spots for the regular running boards. Or if some drilling would need to be done. 1
Richard Carrillo Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Thanks. Maybe I’ll have my neighbor pull out the drivers side running board and unplug it.
TNTSierra Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 This is the MAIN reason when I bought my Denali last month that it was not an Ultimate Denali. I did not want the automatic running boards because they are known for burning up motors, especially in states with "bad" winters. I also like the fixed running boards because they help keep the sides of the truck from getting "debris/road rash"
