454 engine question

Hi guys, just had a quick question I've got a 2000 C/K 3500 truck crew cab long box with the 454 big block. A knock has developed in the motor and need to know what year engine will work. These motors go back to the 60s right? Will an older engine work in this truck? If so would I be able to swap over the current intake manifold coverting an older engine to efi?

You need it to be a 1996-2000 for it to be a direct plug and play situation.

 

The earlier engines like 1991-1995 made less power and were TBI. They also had different camshafts and I'm sure other minor things for TBI trucks.
