jack1996 Posted February 1, 2004 Posted February 1, 2004 My 1996 truck has developed a rattle, upon investigation. The fully closed door is rattling when on a bumpy road. Looks like my wheatherstrippping has worn out and the door has some play. Has anyone delt with this? How do you adjust the stricker position on the Door?
99-2door Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 More often than not the door rattle is caused by wear on the door pins rather than the weatherstripping. There is a little bit of adjustment on the stiker, but very little. You can loosen the pin and move it inward and retighten. Don't loosen it too much or the nut will fall off the back and you will have to remove interior panels to get it back on. That will probably only fix it temporarily if at all. A door hinge pin kit will most likely fix the problem. The doors on these trucks are heavy, especially the power ones, and this is a common problem.
chevy-guy Posted February 3, 2004 Posted February 3, 2004 I drive a 2000 Z71 Silverado and I have the same problem with my drivers side ext. cab door but only does it when it's cold outside. Adjusted the striker but still seems to rattle. Anyone else have this problem when it's cold outside?
