Did I read right?

First off, is there any difference internally between a 4L60E in a normal S-10 and one in a ZR2? I read somewhere that the tranny and T-case are stamped with ZR2. Also, I was reading the service info for my truck and was reading up on the tranny service and it says to pull the drain plug on the tranny. Is there really a plug there or does dropping the pan accomplish that? I don't plan on going under the truck tomorrow (Fri. 2/6/04) to look, getting a nice wintry mix here starting right before rush hour, glad I have the day off...

I haven't heard about any differences in 4L60E trannys except for the vettes. There have been changes made year to year- I think the deeper pan came out in 98, the tcc solenoid was changed in 94, a few more solenoid changes in 97 or 98. I guess your pan could have a drain plug on it, would make it a lot cleaner to change the oil, but you should remove the pan anyway and change the filter

Underneath my old ZR2, the only thing I noticed stamped ZR2 on it was the adapter that connects the trans to the transfercase. I know the trans is the same and 99% sure the transfercase is the same as a regular s-10.

So, do I or do I not have a pan drain? Also, is this truck like my 94 Jimmy was, do I have to remove the rear tranny mount, also a frame crossmember, to remove the pan?
