Interior Squeek

 Hey board, just found you guys today and what a great site for some really useful info.

I am driving an SIERRA SLE xcab. I have recently started to notice a squeek (more of a rubbing) from the passenger side area when moving. Of course I cant reproduce the sound when stopped and jumping on the passenger or rear seat.

It is one of those noises you can sometimes ignor but other times it gets pretty irritating. Any thoughts or clues on where to start, lub, tighten? I know it is a shot in the dark but maybe someone out there has the same demon squeek...

thanks

Those things can be hard to find. A typical problem with the Xtra cabs is the rubber weatherstripping between the doors. You could try greasing or lubricating the weatherstripping. I use dielectric silicone grease. Mine is more noticable at low speeds over choppy pavement. Don't know if this is your problem or not. You really need to try to isolate the noise. I figured mine out by closing old tee-shirts in the door. Problem went away after that. The grease works for about 6 months for me.

I also have a ext. cab 1500 SLE and a squeek. On mine it is in the dash on the passenger side. If someone is riding on that side they can make it stop by putting pressure on the grab handle or on the dash in that area. I am curious if it is in the air bag equipment.

I notice this on my 2003 1500HD crew too. I only notice it though when the weather is freezing or below. I wonder if it is the airbag.

Had a sqeek in mine, that i couldnt reproduce by jumping on it.. believe it or not, it was because of the seatbelt for the center seat.. Try this. hook up the seatbelt, then pull it tight so that way there is no movement in it.. drive it around and see if the noise is gone.

my 2003 z71 ext cab had an intermitant squeek when it got cold, I added some lithium grease to the top and botom suicide door latches and it has not come back.
