Good morning every one. So i have a 2020 Gmc Sierra 1500 elevation crew cab 5.3. Every time i accelerate the truck jerks, i also got a random misfire but that went away, the check engine light has not come on since. The dealer did replace the throttle body and a coil when my lifters went out that might be the issue but I'm really not sure. Has anyone had the same issues? my truck has 94369 miles

Are you certain it is not your transmission?  I believe that one is under the class action lawsuit for jerking under acceleration (slipping).

it's an 8 speed. The dealer diagnosed it the transmission is bad, and the driver side engine mount is screwed. Honestly it doesn't make sense to me since the truck only has 94,700miles on it. I'm really hoping the extended warranty I bought thru CarMax will cover it. (Fidelity Warranty)

I have a 2019 GMC AT4. Last year, at 63000 miles, my right side lifters failed. Totally covered by my extended warranty (Zurich) the dealership ended up replacing both right and left side lifters, pistons, cam shaft, etc.

Previous to that, at 55000 miles, I was having the slipping from 1-2 and vibration at 53 mph and 1500 rpms. Dealer flushed/filled the transmission. Problem went away.

Transmission problem reappeared at 70000 miles only the vibration was at 45 mph instead of 53. I had the transmission and torque converter flushed, filter replaced, and filled with AMSOIL SIGNATURE SERIES ATF HP. This was 2 weeks ago, problem is solved.

The tech bulletin has the fix being Mobil 1 ATF HP.

I wonder how many people are running the Amsoil Signature ATF in their 8 speed.  Be interested to know if any problems occur after a couple of years.

My lifters also went out, they were replaced. Dealer ship diagnosed my truck, it was the transmission and a bad motor mount. Mi getting a renewed transmission 3yrs/36000-mile warranty whichever comes first, I'm also having the driver side motor mount replaced. good thing ill only be paying my deductible.

    • Oil dipsticks have a range (usually marked with "L" and "F" or a crosshatched area) because oil naturally expands as it gets hot. This range gives your engine a safe margin of operation, ensuring there is enough oil to properly lubricate moving parts without overfilling it past the maximum
    • This started several GM updates ago. My Android phone says it is connected, but from the truck, it says it can't connect.  I have deleted the phone and resynced it, I have done a hard reset on the infotainment system (works for a couple of starts), I have tried BT and USB.     2024 Sierra XT4 6.2L
    • My oil is at operating temperature when drained. The oil is cool going in. The amount that’s called for goes in. Then it’s started. Then shut off and if needed filled to the top of the line. Now days no matter where I go they use bulk oil. Valvoline or Honda. Valvoline they show me the stick I’m sitting in the vehicle during. Honda I’m watching through a plate glass window. Around every 1000 miles I check at the same gas pump at Kroger’s while I’m getting gas. The oil is at the top hatch in all my vehicles. It’s usually very hard to see because it’s clean.
    • I'm aware - but not to how much.   Why I'm not alarmed at seeing 'fluctuations', 'drops', etc. on the dipstick... Is it in the range? Yes, good.
    • Again, every vehicle I've touched I drain out less than what I put in. (Further evidence is I use the new containers to take in the old oil, they never overflow, and there's plenty room to pour more in when the drain pan is empty. Usually, an empty quart bottle on the two newest trucks with room to spare in another.)   Pull drain plug and let drain into catch pan. Pull filter and dump into catch pan, set upside down on the fancy little filter holder to drain 'more'. Take a few minutes to clean up, get new stuff out, etc. Clean drain plug, clean oil filter sealing surface, inspect things, whatever... Put drain plug in and install new filter. Fill engine with new oil set aside the new (empty) containers. Pour the old oil in the new containers, note the markings on the side, put old filter in the new filter box. Wipe out pan. Throw away one empty quart container. Cap the others, one will usually have some room in it still.   There may be "some drop" on the dip stick, it's never been a quantity to warrant measuring for sake of comparing to any previous reading. Of course, given this conversation I'll be making much more careful observations of the reading on the dipstick, to see what 1 quart plus minus looks like within the marked area.   However, the dipstick, in my opinion, isn't the most accurate gauge to determine "oil consumption, use, etc." not that I have any better alternative. I think it's best suited to determine if engine has a reasonable amount of oil to prevent failure.   If an EXACT amount was required, it wouldn't have a range specified, it would have a single mark. GM knows some oil will be lost, note the acceptable consumption per mile. The larger capacity pans that have come about in the last decade I think are a result of that, to allow for some between changes without the result of oil starvation.
