How likely is it that having the Westers chip will affect my warranty?

I've been told not to worry, but there's a lot at stake. And a metal label on my programer says "Wester," so they're going to know about it. Is it worth the extra $175 cost to keep my original programer so that I can put it on when/if I take it into the dealer for warranty repairs or service??????

I took the westers sticker off mine, and put the stock PCM bar codes onto my westers. I'd like to see them prove that i changed it....if they ever said anything about it, I would just play dumb. My metal westers sticker now has a permanat home on my computer case.

A couple of the guys have taken the aluminum cover off their stock PCM and swapped it onto their Wester's, factory white stickers and all. It's just 4 screws. The dealer will NEVER be able to tell then!

No, it does NOT affect your warranty.

Alan, another option is to keep your original PCM and order a tested core from Toledo Core Supply Inc, 1-800-546-2673. You will need your Service No. from your original. He sold me one for $90.00 including shipping, came next day.

8100LT: What are you referring to by "tested core"? I'm unfamiliar with that term.

It is a PCM, just like you will need to send back to Westers. So you keep your original PCM core and send Westers the recycled and tested (to make sure it works) PCM core.
