Truck went into limp mode "Reduced Engine Power" on Sunday afternoon around 2:00 PM... called roadside assistance for a tow truck. the app advised the request was processed and I would get an update no longer than 90 mins.  I had family pick me and my daughter up, at 6:00pm with no response i called again. only to be told the request didn't go through the first time even though i was provided a SMS message with the request information. They called the tow truck again. an hour later CAA called back to tell me it was too dark to tow the vehicle. After the third call the next morning to roadside assistance, they finally sent the tow truck. 3:00 Pm the vehicle was delivered to the GM dealership. I called the dealership to give them a heads up that my vehicle would be arriving via tow truck and requested that they call me with an update on the issue. Needless to say 3 days after being broke down i called the dealership again only to be informed that the valve body needed to be replaced and that the parts were ordered but they are on backorder. I asked how long it would be for backorder and they could not even give an ETA. needless to say i am not impressed with the service we have received from GM. This truck is 3 years old with 60,000 kms there is no reason they do not have these replacement parts available especially when they knew it was a common problem.

just wondering if you've actually received parts yet?

My 2021 Silverado has been at the dealership for about 3 months.  Needed a Torque Converter and Valve Body.  The Valve Body has been on backorder.  Has anyone else experienced this or gotten any relief from GM.  I dont see an end in site.  TIA

how long did the valve body end up taking?

2023 1500 w/29000 miles. I had "reduced acceleration" come on Friday 2/21/25 dropped off at dealer this morning, they just called to let me know it needs a valve body. Guess I got a little luck as they said they have it in stock

Welcome to the forum. That is a lot of luck. Can I ask what dealer and where are they located?

If GM Actually gave a damn about their customers they would do something about it. Posting in forums with a generic pre-written response by a bot is a joke at best.

I just tried to get a loaner truck from my dealership but said it will be 4 weeks before available.  Dealership computer said my part is on a NATIONAL PART HOLD. No clue what that means now.

Going on 3 months for my 2022 High Country.  GM has the worst customer service.  Mary Barra should be fired and replaced with an engineer.  They have known about multiple quality control issues since she has been CEO.  FIRE HER!!!!

Our 2022 just ticked over 32000 miles. We were trying to drive from Chicago to Columbus on 04/3/2025. Our truck went into limp mode and would not shift out of 5th gear. We were able to get it to a dealer but had to rent a car to finish our trip. So far, we still have no ETA for a new valve body, and have not been reimbursed for the weekend rental. They did provide a rental after that weekend so now we have a base model Malibu to drive around.

I'm curious how long everyone had to wait to get their part. We are coming up on a month already, still with no ETA.

I have a 2022 Silverado Trail Boss which I just got back after 68 days out of service due to a failed valve body. I currently have a Lemon Law case filed and if I win the buyback from GM, I will need to make a decision. I will either trust GM replaced the faulty valve body with a "newly designed" one that will not fail in the future and keep my TB or accept the buyback and look to purchase a 2024 or newer Silverado LT Trail Boss under warranty. It is just that I love the feel of the V8 and the fact I have done so much aftermarket work on my TB and to accept the buyback will just throw all that hard work and value away. Difficult decision.

It has the 5.3. And in the state I reside, apparently it can be a used vehicle, at least this is what both the GM mediator and Arbitration Board member mentioned to me. The vehicles I am considering are low mileage (under 10,000 miles) so might as well be brand new. I was told GM is considering reimbursing me for at least some of the aftermarket costs. I do realize I will not get 100% of the purchase price. My Arbitration Board member mediator told me I should get back approximately 90% of the purchase price as well as taxes, finance fees, registration and title fees.

I would buy new. They smell really good inside. They have all the kinks worked out of the 6.2s in 2025 and they are rocket ships. If you do make sure to get the active exhaust!
