My 2021 Silverado has been at the dealership for about 3 months.  Needed a Torque Converter and Valve Body.  The Valve Body has been on backorder.  Has anyone else experienced this or gotten any relief from GM.  I dont see an end in site.  TIA

We have a  2024 2500 Sierra that we bought off of the lot.  It is a basic work truck with the 6.6L  gas engine. It has 8000 miles and is currently in the shop needing a valve body for the transmission. It has been in the shop 3 weeks and the part is on backorder.  GM is unable to give information on when the part will be available.  At first it was between 7/31 to 8/13.  The dealer now says 8/14 to 8/26.  The customer service people are nice but have no authority and will not let you speak to upper management. I use the vehicle to tow and the dealer does not have a 2500 loaner.  GMC will not authorize the cost to rent an equivalent vehicle.  They would only state that their policy would reimburse me less than 50% of the cost and I could send them the bill for further consideration.   We have averaged 11.5 - 12 mpg in the city. Highway was 13.5 - 15 mpg.  Towing is another story. On a recent trip to pick up a pontoon boat in Florida we averaged 5.7 mpg at 65 miles per hour.  It tows reasonably well for a gas engine.  The boat and trailer combined weight was around 7800 lbs.  If you are considering using the truck for towing be aware that we have had problems with the trailer brake controller.  Under normal driving conditions, the truck will randomly display "Trailer wiring fault".  During this time that will last from 3 to 60 seconds the trailer has no brakes.  Recently with an 11,000 gross weight trailer and load, we were pushed through a red light with the antilock brakes chattering so bad that I thought that the truck was going to shake apart. GM has stated that they do not have a problem with the controller but if you search the internet you will find many articles regarding this. A dealership checked the controller and said that it was OK. I forwarded a few posts from the internet to my service advisor. A few days later when I called to check on the transmission part, he stated that they checked the controller and found a fault and that they were going to replace it.

This forum is for T1 1500s not 2500s. Your 2500 has a completely different transmission. You should be in the HD forum.

Truck went into limp mode "Reduced Engine Power" on Sunday afternoon around 2:00 PM... called roadside assistance for a tow truck. the app advised the request was processed and I would get an update no longer than 90 mins.  I had family pick me and my daughter up, at 6:00pm with no response i called again. only to be told the request didn't go through the first time even though i was provided a SMS message with the request information. They called the tow truck again. an hour later CAA called back to tell me it was too dark to tow the vehicle. After the third call the next morning to roadside assistance, they finally sent the tow truck. 3:00 Pm the vehicle was delivered to the GM dealership. I called the dealership to give them a heads up that my vehicle would be arriving via tow truck and requested that they call me with an update on the issue. Needless to say 3 days after being broke down i called the dealership again only to be informed that the valve body needed to be replaced and that the parts were ordered but they are on backorder. I asked how long it would be for backorder and they could not even give an ETA. needless to say i am not impressed with the service we have received from GM. This truck is 3 years old with 60,000 kms there is no reason they do not have these replacement parts available especially when they knew it was a common problem.

2022 GMC needs valve body that’s on back order. It’s been in the shop going on 4 months. How long did it take to get yours repaired?

2021 silverado  w/27,000 miles truck went to dealership on Oct 20 2024. Valve Body needs replaced. Gm contacts me 1-2 times a week to let me know that they do not have an eta for this part. Not sure who gave you those dates but I wouldn't bet on it. If you haven't contacted gm to start a case you should.

I have a 22 High Country with only 39K km & Valve body is needed....same prob as everyone else. Mine just went in Jan/25. I see yours went in Nov/24. Did you finally get yours repaired? If so, how long did U have to wait? Barrie Ontario

My 2024 1500 Sierra with 12,000 miles went in 11/18 for same issue with the valve body and still waiting with no ETA, will let you know if I get an update but doesn't seem like it will be any time soon.

2021 Silverado Z71 LTZ 69,989 miles.

Bought it 11/25/2024. Certified pre-owned Threw an engine light on 1/20. Light was for a transmission fault so I took it to the dealership that evening. Left it at the dealership with a loaner and an estimate of "5 days to get to it". Took 10. Diagnosis was ...the dreaded valve body. "They're on back order". Could be 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months. They have now rented me a CAR.

I'm in the construction business. A CAR!

Because they know this is going to be a drawn out process. Chevrolet and GM know they have a big problem and they're doing NOTHING about it. So, I'm now making payments on a truck that is hung up on backorder and Onstar that I can't use and XM that I don't have access to in my rental. I'm ready for any legal action that comes along!

2022 Sierra Elevation 5.3, 46,000km

Valve body on backorder.

It's the two month anniversary for my truck sitting in a snowbank at the dealership, no ETA for parts. No ETA for when there will be an ETA. Had my case "escalated" by GM Canada, so i'm now on a 'priority' list. As if there's a single person out there for whom getting their parts isn't a priority. Just BS from GM to make me think they give a sh^&. Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Program can't/won't do much until the three month mark and even then there's not much they can do. Sure wish we had lemon laws in Canada...

I hesitate to ask, but is anyone who has actually received a valve body still on this forum, and if so, how long did you end up waiting?
