6 to 10

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about replacing my 2014 Silverado 5.3 6sp trans 3.42 with a 23-24 5.3 10sp 3.23. Has anyone else done this recently? If so, what are your impressions, thoughts? Good or bad. Thanks for the help.

I don't own one but have driven many.  The 5.3/10 speed is a lovely combination.  Brings the 5.3 to life more.  Far superior to the 5.3/6 speed, especially the 14-18 given the questionable survivability of the 6 speed those years.

Wouldn't there be issues getting the 23-24 ( Global B ) electrical components to to play nice with the 2014?

Think he is talking about buying a new truck (but you never know😬).

The response after your post indicates your interpretation is the correct one...🙂

One of the trucks I’m looking is a 2022 and it is not equipped with dynamic fuel management, or steering column lock. Are any of these a huge issue or problem?

Column lock - GM never had one on trucks from like 2003-2013.  Not the end of the world.

Not equipped with DFM (RPO code YK9 on the build sheet) - Makes the truck that much better of a buy.  The DFM hardware is still there (same lifters that the AFM trucks like your 2014 had but DFM is on all 8 cylinders) but the ECM is missing the chipset to run DFM operation.  AKA, that truck is a V8 all the time.  Major reduction of lifter failure probability.
