Bad release button in the gate.  HD trucks had a recall and some 1500s but not all of them.  Part is cheap, dealer probably has a bunch on the shelf.

My '23 1500 has had the recall done.

 

For mine, the issue was rare (and might have been operator error).

 

However, the problem hasn't repeated since repair was completed May 2024.
