Oil Change on a 2023 L5P

Banks Power is saying that the stock oil pan retains about a quart of dirty oil when you drain the engine oil from the pan.  This is due to a raised drain weld nut inside the pan and, the pick up tube cannot fully drain because of the remaining oil in the pan.

Is this true or is it a marketing plot by Banks Power?

Its real.  The Duramax from the factory is even filled to 11 quarts but the actual service oil change amount is 10 quarts.  

 

Is Banks in the business to sell their products?  Yes.  Is Gale Banks and his team actually legit in their reasonings for their products?  Yes.  Their diff cover series was very well put together if you get a chance to watch that and see how poorly the other aftermarket covers operate.  They've put similar levels of work for the public to see in other products they've launched recently like the L5P oil pan and them even making a transparent pan molded right from a stock pan to prove it.   

 

There's a reason GM uses him for building the GM Defense spec'd Duramax engines.  He knows his stuff.
