Hi All,

What is the difference between 2500 LD and the 2500 HD? I've read some of posted messages about the Lt Duty and HD but they seem to be for older trucks. I know about the difference between these two trucks in regard to GVWR, payload, axle ratio and any other comdinations. It also seem that both trucks have the same frame of 8" for the exception that the 2500 HD has the body mounting bracket 1.75" or 2" higher then the 2500 LD.

Here were I'm going with this. I own a 2004 GMC 2500 LD SB Crew Cab 4X4 6.0 is practical to convert (in the of suspension) a LD to a HD rating ?

TIA

Thank you

Tom

The 2500HD shares the same frame, brakes, rear pumpkin and axles as the 3500 trucks. With the diesel or big block, you get an AAM 1150 full-floating rear axle and a 14 bolt rear end. The 2500LD could be beefed up, but it still won't have the same components that can be found in the 2500HD.

I have a LD........Pretty sure the frame is different. The HD frame is taller

to allow for the Dura max and Allie trans.

Notice on the Burbs you can't get a 8.0 with a Allie..........

Also note the HDs have a bigger diameter exaust and it is routed differently

than the LDs. I noticed that on my buds 01 HD too.

I bought a LD in 01 cause it had a $2500 rebate and 2.9% interest deal.

The HDs were selling for FULL price and NO rebates!

Its got all the WORK goodies too.....Snow Plow Prep, Tow pkg, G-80.

She pushes a LOT of snow here in NY or towing my boat or camper!

All the power goodies too !...............geo
