Hello,

 

2020 L8T 2500 here. My truck does not have a block heater but does have the pop off trim cover leading to the correct mounting location for the plug in. 

 

Does anybody know the correct p/n for the whole kit or am I better off with aftermarket? I can't find anything useful regarding the L8T and block heaters, after much scouring of the Internet and this website.

Welcome -  Check with your dealership (Parts dept) they give you the number & price . then go from there. Good Luck

4 parts needed.  12586687 heater, 84766918 cord, 84785860 harness and 84564686 cable.

Maybe interesting for some, probably not news for many. I was having a lot of electrical issues, namely random dic messages for service parking brake, parking sensors acting strange, all sorts of weird stuff. 

 

A recent cold spell killed my battery in my 2020 2500hd L8T. A new battery solved that problem, and now after about 1k miles I think it's safe to say it cured all those other electrical demons too. Lesson learned, with all these gadgets on the new trucks a strong battery is a must for terrible free operation. 

 

I'll be replacing every 3 years from now on as long as I own it.

As a follow up, I really wish the system could detect a weak battery and flash a dic message for that instead of random systems sending false alarms!

Yup, a low battery will throw all kinds of electrical codes. Happened to me as well.
