Question about brakes.

I have a 2019 new style Silverado, 39.5k miles , starting to hear brake wear sensor scraping on rotor.

I was told at oil change/ tire rotation that I had 4mm and 7mm front and rear back in October.

Disabled the sensor on screen because it has a software issue or broken wire, kept telling me brake pad thickness was critically low, and I knew it wasn't.

Seeing a small amount of marking on the drivers side rear rotor, which I'm assuming is the pad wear sensor.

Pretty sure caliper is not hung, I've had a few of them over the years.

At what wear point(mm) do they start making noise.

I'm going to take it in to get looked at, was just wondering for future reference.

Also, I did my own brakes for years, but serious back surgery has put a stop to that.

The sensor was correct!

4mm is 4 / 25.4 = 0.157 "

(0.157" is about 5/32")

They definitely should be replaced

The question is why did they wear out so fast.
