You will get longer life out of a premium pad, Why do you think it's necessary to surface rotors every pad change? If you don't overheat the brakes driving like a nut and are using premium rotors, lug nuts properly torqued you probably can do 2 pad changes before they need attention. Just my opinion.

Imo, you should still check the rotors though. It may have a slight variation you can't detect with foot-o-meter. It only takes a couple minutes to turn rotors anyways.
