Do they come stock on 6.2? If not, does dealer normally stock them, or are they only available aftermarket? I ask, because I could have sworn I bought one from the dealer for my 2001 Corvette, but someone told me thy are stock on 6.2 Sierras, which I find hard to believe. If anything, I would think they'd more likely be stock on a sports car, not a truck, but I don't think GM would include one on anything.

Aftermarket.  GM hasn't used a magnetic drain plug on any engine for like 20 years now.  Even the replacement OEM plugs for one that had one originally so say like my 2004 GMC 2500 HD I had which had one, the OEM replacement plug p/n is not magnetic.

Would you get one, or leave as is?

I've never gone out of my way to install one...so...no.  I'd leave it unless its gonna bother you.

I just thought it might be a good idea since I'm changing oil today, but OK, I'm leaving it stock.

Since it would appear that you do your own oil changes and are willing to upgrade the drain plug, check out Fumoto valves.  I have them on my vehicles and they make oil changes A LOT cleaner and quicker.

Looks like there are a few similar contraptions out there now. What made you pick the Fumoto over the less obtrusive ones without a lever like the Valvomax or Votex?

A strong history of quality and reliability.  Fumoto is a known brand that has been doing it for A LONG time and I know they make quality products.  That's not to say that Valvomax or Votex don't, but I know what I'm getting with Fumoto and they have been exactly as advertised.

I added a magnetic plug to my 19 at the first oil change 70K+ miles ago.  It does collect a small amount of debris.  Have used them in the past and plan to add one to the 21 ZL1 I just got at the next oil change.

Figures, right after I decide NOT to get a magnetic plug for my recent oil change, my motor gets recalled for a potentially disastrous short block. Would be nice to have a magnetic plug now, if only to monitor if any metal is getting shaved off of some bearings or journals.
