I want to add my ham radio control head to the center dash tray.  I bought this metal filler mount in the pic.  Also searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.  Has anyone been able to snake a small cable up through the dash from the footwell area to the tray?

BTW, it's not really a tray but rather the rear of the center screen.  The dash side is molded into the entire top dash part.  The bottom rubber matt is removeable and you can see the screws in the bottom.  Can a cable be fished through the red arrow hole (and avoid taking the dash apart)?

Drilling a bigger hole is not advised since there are screen cables and connectors under there feeding the center screen.

Thanks!

Have you looked at the dash tray?  What kind of rig?  Mine is a small Icom 208H 2m/70cm head unit only.  Main body is going under passenger seat or maybe in rear storage box with remote speaker.

Got my ham rig mounted.  It was really pretty easy.  Dash trim panels pop right off and room to route cables.  I added a USB-C (phone) and Radio control cable to tray area.  Radio control head mounts to metal filler mount.  Same for cell phone (not shown).  The rest of the radio mounts under pass seat.  I am not happy with the radio control head mount and will probably re-do it.  But the cables are there!

Here is what I did on my 21 Sierra. Unit is under passenger seat, speaker is under drivers seat and mic is in the side cubie hold of the center console

I like it.   Hidden from prying eyes a lot better than mine.  I have the sunroof option which limited placement.  My mike and remote speaker are in the console.  On my jeep I mounted the head where the driver side sunshade used to be.

Anyway, nice placement.

Just thought of a question, where/how did you mount your antenna?  Mine is using an NMO mount on the rear of the front right fender.
