Screeching sound at end of startup. Starter going bad or something else? 2015 5.3 Fuel

I get a loud screeching sound right at the end of the startup cycle, specifically at the end of a remote start cycle and it only seems to be with remote start.   It goes through the whole crank and engine start then right at the end it is like a 1-2 sec screeching sound.    Is it the start going or some remote start mechanism?  I mean when you use remote start it sounds like something else is engaging first.

Thoughts? The hits keep on coming.  Woohoo!

Sounds like the starter gear not cleanly disengaging from the flywheel. Always done this since new? Or recent development?

Also factory alarm or aftermarket? It does sound like the gear is staying out longer then designed.

All factory.


So basically I should replace the starter.    Weird it doesn't happen on normal start, just remote start.

Iirc the remote start is timed and then verified. Which would give the need for the weak starter to keep spinning.  

 

The gear slow to retract just shines light to the situation.
