Are there any problems with unbolting the two bolts that mount the shifting cable bracket to the pan. Then undo the nut that holds the shifter arm to the trans. The cable, bracket, and shifting arm now can be pushed out of the way and the pan be droped. This way you don't have to mess with the special clips on the linkage.

I would guess the shifting arm has a groove or slot to line up so it could be put back on properly but not sure. Thanks.

I know there was a lot said about this for the 4L60E, and how easy you can brake the clip or bracket. but can't find any info for the 4L80E. I have worked on many cars and trucks befor but the threads on the 4L60E have me wondering.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
