Hello all,

I have found threads similar to my issue but with no clear answer, hoping someone can give me an idea of a direction to look into. I bought my 2014 1500 with 75,000 miles on it - it had 20" wheels, 35" tires, 2" wheels spacers, front leveling blocks, and stock suspension. Fast forward 2 years I am at 105,000 and it was rattling my teeth out - I switched to 17" wheels, Toyo Open Country A/T III 265r70/17's ran at 35 PSI, replaced upper control arms, sway bar end links, inner and outer tie rods, front struts, rear shocks, removed leveling blocks, removed stock rear blocks, and it now rides worse than it did when I had 35's with wheel spacers, lift blocks, and worn out junk. I have double and triple checked all replaced components, retorqued everything at ride height, nothing seems to be mechanically wrong - but it feels like I am riding around on 24's with rubberbands.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

*Edit to add PNs*

What brand shocks and struts? Makes all the difference.

I edited to add part numbers, they are KYB Monomax PN SRM4547 and KYB Gas-a-just PN 555055.

Why the mis-matched shocks?  Monomax up front, Gas-A-Just out back.

Gas-a-Just are OE equivalent ride, Monomax is 40% more damping over the OE/gas-a-just spec.  Both are a monotube design so they will ride more firm than the OE shock which are twin tube and have softer ride control.

Are the new tires "E" load range? If they are, they can be stiff even at 35 psi. The harsh ride almost sounds like you are bottoming out. Did the previous owner do something to the bump stops?

Can you adjust the Gas-A-Just shocks to a lighter setting? Did the previous owner change the coils or leafs?

Perhaps some pics of your setup might help.

Were the struts 'loaded' or did you reuse your factory springs and jounce bumpers?

Googling the # OP used it was a loaded Monomax quick strut.

That's several more variables: (The new parts might not have the right components in them)

Correct spring rate?

Correct jounce bumper?

Tires will have an impact on the ride, I don't think they should be that bad though.

Were the upper control arms torqued correctly?

I too question the rear shock settings.

If the rear blocks were removed, it could be bottoming out in the rear on the factory bump stops.

Hopefully it has been aligned after this work -results or comments from the shop?
