I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 LT and it randomly jumps out of gear while driving. It goes into neutral, then as the RPM’s drop it’ll catch a gear, seems like 1st or 2nd gear, depends on what RPM’s it likes at that particular moment. It stays in that gear and does not shift out of it. I’ll have to pull over, turn the engine off for about 30 seconds, restart engine, get back on the road and transmission starts shifting… Until it has another episode.

It’s random, can’t really pinpoint what causes it. I have a 25 minute drive to work. Some days I can get all the way to work without having to pullover, some days it jumps out of gear up to 4 times! I noticed it does it more on cooler days, outdoor temp 40° or under. I’ve heard people say it could be the neutral safety switch. I may start there and see what happens.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

you've checked fluid level using the procedure in the owners manual?  when was the last time the fluid was changed?  maybe check for codes w a code reader that can get codes from the tcm.

Probably a one and done post, but do you have a CEL on the dash? Was having issues with my transmission, fortunately only a week, and it turned out to be the transmission harness. Valve body was in good shape, so new harness with all the sensors attached, new fluid, and filter. Seems to have worked so far?
