Hi Everybody,

I have a 91 Chevy c1500 silverado, 2 wheel drive. I believe it has a v8 5.7 ltr motor. I've been trying to install a power steering pump. The bracket the original pump has will not fit the new pump that I have. The bolts will not line up correctly. I also bought a pump from Auto Zone and it doesn't line up either. Does anyone know if Chevy had a different bracket for the pump ? I was told that the engine would have a Vin number somewhere on it , but cannot find . A friend also mention that the motor could have been replaced at one time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Mike

Maybe post pics of the original pump, the bracket and the new pump?

Unfortunately the pump and bracket are on the engine. Might be a while to post pics.

If you suspect an engine swap or similar modification to the front accessory drive...

Maybe try spending some time plugging in different make/models/years that utilized the same engine (prime donor vehicles or swap candidates), vans, full-size cars (Impala, Roadmaster), 4x4 trucks to get a collection of pump and brackets that are similar along with their associated part numbers; take that collection of part numbers to the parts store to compare.

Another Okie.
