d**n glad to see that he is still alive after that.:cool:

Edit and here is the post that he made:

Since I have made a couple of friends here on the board I need to let some people know. Around 12:30am on Monday morning I ran into the back of a Street sweeper on the freeway here in Mesa AZ and totaled the truck. I don’t remember anything at all except waking up in the hospital and the doctors working on me. They Said I Rear-ended a street sweeper on the passenger side of my truck at 70mph, the front end was imbedded into the back of the sweeper and I rolled the truck five times. Everyone thought for sure I was a goner. But somehow I survived wearing my seatbelt. Got a ton of bumps and bruises and staples in my head and have a neck brace on because I cracked 2 vertebrae in my neck.

I'll have to take your word for it that was an SS. You can barely tell externally it was a Chevy, or a truck for that matter.......

Glad to hear that you are relatively unscathed considering the damage to the truck. Also, good thing you were driving alone because seat belt or not any passeger would've been a goner.

:cool: wow... I can only imagine hitting a street sweeper... good thing for airbags....

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the nice replies, it really means allot to me because I have really been beating myself up over this the whole week. Some of my friends and neighbors thought that I had wrecked my motorcycle; if that was the case I would not be here today.

The pictures really are horrific and looking at them makes me want to break down again, I myself cant believe I made it though it with only minor cuts bruises and some neck injuries. I am a firm believer now that seatbelts along with airbags really do what they are designed for. Probably be a different story had I hit the sweepy on the driver side though…

I won’t be driving for sometime now and most likely won’t be able to afford another SS; insurance will be WAY to high for me in the future. I still have my other death trap though, the motorcycle to get me to and from work. I just have to wait till I can hold my head up on my own.

This whole accident seems like a bad nightmare to me, the last couple of nights I have had some horrible flashbacks that wake me up in cold sweats at night. But there is one nurse that always seems to comfort me while I am sleeping. For those that believe in this kind of stuff, I am pretty sure it is my guardian angle. Her face is so familiar to me know, but I don’t remember seeing here anywhere before just when I have dreams or thoughts of the accident.

I am actually really glad that I can’t remember much about the accident, hitting basically a brick wall at 65+mph and rolling 5 times, is not something I want to keep going over and over again in my head.

I have allot of work cut out for me over the next few months, I’ll try to post on the site when I can. I just need time to get over my foolishness and try to get on with my life the best that I can. I always seem to learn the hard way and now I completely understand the saying “that you go to be young and dumb first before you can be old and wise”…

Take care everyone and always were your seatbelts…

Darric.

And for those that asked about the guy driving the Street sweeper, he is fine. Got a bruise on his knee from hitting the dash I think. I haven’t talked to him, mom called and talked to him on Tuesday to see how he was. He was more concerned how I was and if I survived…

some people were wondering if it really was my truck or not…
