Ground Clearance?

Howcome some 2500hd 4x4 have more/less ground clearance from the frame than others?

 

I know/would think that the Z71 has more clearance than nonZ71's....

 

I was next to a 2500hd 4x4 exactly like mine today and the guys was at LEAST 2-3" lower than mine ...he claimed it was stock and only had 5000 miles on it...

Some of it can be attributed to the configuration; a standard cab long bed will sit higher off the ground then a crewcab longbed does. Seems like the longer the truck the lower it sits. Pretty silly, but true.

I've noticed that the HD's with the diesel sit lower in the front than ones with the 8.1L and especially the 6.0L. All the 6.0L HD's sit 2 or 3 inches higher (in the front).

ok so I'm not crazy. There is a difference...

I noticed the same thing, except I parked next to a 2500HD DA with my 6 liter and I was about 2 inches shorter.

 

Did alittle looking and noticed he had the 265 tires and when I talked to the owner he had also cranked up the torsion bars.
