Ok pulled into my local BJs to get some tires.. They are a hell of a lot cheaper than any where around here. So I was going for a nice set of 365 75 R16 BFG Rugged Trails.. Guy is like no way we will put those on a 2500HD crew Cab long box... The rims are to small, they are only 7 inches across vs 7.5 on the Ext and Standard cabs.. I was pluzzed because a guy at the same shop told me to put the 265 on the other day.. So do they even make different rims for a Crew Cab? Does not make any sense to me...

In the end I am going with 245 75 R16 in the same tire.. I have had way to many issue with the truck and GM is already being a bunch of A-holes about it so I am going to keep stock size tires to avoid voiding the warrenty.. I can hear them now blaming the clunk in my rear end on the tires.. GM might make good trucks but someone let this pile of junk slip through.. Sad to say this might be the last GM product I drive.. Tring to talk my brother out of a 2005 or 2006 corvette over all the issues I have had with this truck...

What does the quality of a Corvette have to do with a truck :chevy:

Every maker has problem vehicles out there unfortunatly.

I have over 105K on my 2000 GMC and aside from a happy gas guage and a rear end gear I replaced two years ago, I couldn't be happier

If you have the Ally tranny, then I have heard stories of GM hassling people for warranty issues because of bigger tires.

I've been running 265's on my truck since it was about 8 months old, and I've never been questioned about any warranty work.

As far as I know all the HD's have the same rim width (steel and aluminum) with the 1500's having a little wider aluminum rim.

According to a major tire manufacturer, a 265/75/16 is approved for a 7"-8" rim with a recommended width of 7.5" 285/75/16's are recommend for 7.5"-9" rims.

Because GM does not stand behind what they make.. This thing is the color of Yellow, if you know what I mean.. When they start to stand behind what they make then I will consider buying another GM product.. I asked to have someone with some techinal knowledge call me back to answer question I had about the brake failures I have had on my truck and a bunch of other issues.. They blew me off three times..

List of issues:

Forgot to paint the door Jams with clear coat

Forgot the clip to hold the shaft the connect the brake pedel to the master cylinder

Brake interlock switch failed

Brake light switch failed

Fuel pump loud / Failed x3

Loud bang when shifting from park(slip Yoke Bad)

Can not rember more but I am sure are more...

SXViper, yeah, you may have a lemmon! lol UNbelievable! :chevy: No probs here, 36x14.50's on the ally for 10,000 miles, 35x12.50's on for the first 10,000 miles. (although I am waiting for something to fail) I had an 88 GMC 1/2 ton suburban with 31x10.50's on the stock rims for over 250,000 miles no (major) problems. Along with several other GM vehicles in my family. Over all..... VERY happy with GM,

heh heh....I am starting to become a non believer too. I've had problems with mine also....bad CV at 23K...(blamed on lift...lift was on for 50 miles when it failed..it been fine since it was replaced at my expense)....busted rear hub seal(they actually covered that under warrenty)....the allison clunks and the anti lock brakes come on when slowing down(intermittent problem) but they can't recreate it.....tbryne sent me a copy of the TSB describing exactly what happens...they told me it didn't apply to my truck....come on, all it called for was to reflash the TCM......and now I have a busted stearing gear box.....(blamed on my tires...I'm fighting that one though)

If I had to do it again, I would have still bought a GM, but I would have left my HD stock, and spent the money on the blazer.

tmf6902 I too had a busted steering gear box, but it was at 1500 miles! Manual shift transer case lever has rattled since the truck had 2K miles on it, stealer replace it once and has now refused to do anything else for it. I took matters into my own hands with a fix from some of the guys here. Beyond those 2 mechanical problems and a broken center console, which was replaced, I love my truck and couldn't be happier with it.

SXViper I am surprised to hear bj's wouldnt even put on 265's, my stealership cranked my torsion bars and had 285's on my truck before I ever even drove it off the lot, my local costco balances my tires for me and they have no problems replacing stock tire sizes with larger ones.

I am running 265's on my factory chromed steel wheels which are 16x6.5" and have had no problems with them. I would not personally go any bigger than a 265 on the factory rims, but that is just me. A lot of people have had no problems running 285's on the factory rims. As far as what the dealer would say about the bigger tires who knows. From everything I have read some dealers are alright with aftermarket items and some are not. Some may change there minds after the fact. The joys of owning a new vehicle that is still under warranty. I still have about 15,000 miles to go before my extended warranty is up. Knock on wood I have had no major problems with my truck.

Warranty work:

*Repaired AC/Faulty seal somewhere.

*Replaced Center console on the front 40/20/40 seats, Bad Latch

*Replaced Passengers Side Power Window Motor, This was the day I picked it up brand new!

*Replaced Seat Belt Retractor in Drivers Seat, was squeaking like crazy!

*Replaced broken door handle on Drivers Side EC door.

I think that is about it. My truck has treated me very well so far. I hope it continues to do so for a long time.
