Shocks

The shocks on both my 'rado and 'hoe are starting to make creaking noises so I guess it is time to change them out. I have heard alot of talk lately about shocks (brands, lengths, etc) and with Summit running the buy 3 get 1 free deal on Rancho's and ProComp's I guess it is time to look into buying some.

 

I have a couple of questions:

 

1.) What is the best shock? Rancho RSX, ProComp, or Bilstein and why?

 

2.) Since both my vehicles have torsion bar lifts on them, does either or the three make a longer shock for my application (1" - 2")?

 

3.) What are the model numbers of the shocks that would fit a 2000 Silverado? A 2001 Tahoe?

I've got almost 30k on my Bilstein HD replacements. A much better ride on the freeway as well as day to day driving. Blue doesn't see much time off the pavement, so I can't really comment on the difference between stock and the HD's there.

For some reason, people on here don't like the Edelbrock's. I was hesitant to get them, but the Bilstein's were on backorder for 2 months a couple of years ago and the Rancho's always gave me a real hard ride. So, I ended up with the Edelbrock's. I now have over 25k on them without any problems, they ride smooth (alot of people say they provide a stiff ride), and they do not seem to have detiorated over the past 2 years. Expensive, yes. But for me, they have met and exceeded all their claims since I have had them. I would probably buy them again, but I would like to drive a truck with Bilsteins to get a comparison.

I just ordered some Rancho RSX from Whitney. I'll be installing them in a couple of weeks.

Rancho RSX is best bang for the buck. They are also sized for stock-2'" lift. Call Summitracing 18002303030 and they will give you all of the inf and a decent price.
