I have a new house pet.....

Nobody's really sure how, but a nice, 6ft Black Snake decided to make himself at home in our house.

I've been working at the Boy Scout camp I work at since last Thursday (the 20th, I believe... for those who were wondering where I've been).

Monday (the 24th), my mom calls me... "Jeremy, we found snakeskin in the washing machine!". The thing decided to hibernate in the small space between the outer shell of the washing machine, and the actual tub itself, left a ring of shed skin around the lip of the "door-way".

Wednesday (the 26th), Mom calls again... snake made it's way into the bathroom took a nap coiled up between the tub and the toilet. then he crawled into a hole in the wall...

So I get home yesterday (Sunday) and I'm a little weary about using the bathroom at our house... but I make it ok.

This morning I wake up, and start jamming to the radio. I walk over to my window fan prepared to turn it on.... when my attention is drawn by the sanke climbing out from between my bed and the wall, doing it's impersonation of an egyptian snake charmer thing to the beat of Usher's "Yeah" song.

I'm not the kinda guy that likes snakes, my favorite kinda snake is a dead one. With that in my mind I run to the basement and grab a shovel.. I get back to my room and he's climbing up into the window. I take this opportunity to take a swift hard swing at him.....

Long story short, If anything I slightly injured him (broke his spine if I'm lucky)... andmy window-sil looks like some maniac attacked it with a shovel (go figure... :seeya:).

Is there any way to get rid of it without turning my house into "the money pit"? a way to possibly lure it into an open area?

Yeah, grab hold of it, take it outside, and throw it in a field. Kingsnakes are "good" snakes. Non-poisonous varmit eaters. Let it get big enough, and it will take care of the neighbors cats that put tracks all over the cars too. :seeya:

Or put it in the attic...Probably wont have a mouse problem after that.

Are there Black Mamba's in the U.S.?

I thought I heard once that some made it over here, one way or another, with human help.

Dood....I feel for ya...I hate snakes...I would be in a hotel till someone got it out. you could always buy a mongoose?????

he should buy a couple, so they can team up on it.

Do you own a handgun (or a handgun caliber rifle)? You can get snake shot for most popular handgun calibers. Its real small shot, so you need to be close (less than 2') but I'm told it works great. You'll still need to drag it outside so you don't have to worry about holes in your wall and ricochets.

I think a black mamba would chase you (like they do on Animal Planet). Maybe a cottonmouth, those are black I think?? I saw a snake in the street that I stopped to look at. It hooded up at me (I knew it was not a cobra but wasn't sure what it was) so I got back in the truck. It's lucky it got into the ditch before I could turn around..... I prefer is there is a nice thick piece of glass between me and a snake..

Call animal control they might be able to catch it for free.

    • Update for anyone following:    Installed everything as shown in diagram. Opted for 8 AWG from Battery Positive to a 50A resettable inline breaker. 8 AWG is tied into to 2x 12 AWG wires feeding a 6 way fuse bus in parallel (manufacturer’s design of what I purchased).    4 of the 6 fuses available for circuits are tied to terminal 30 of each relay. I tied a jumper from one of my spare circuits off the bus to terminal 86 of each relay. The trigger, terminal 85, was pulled from my interior by way of T-Taps from the X61A-X5 pins 10, 11, 17 and 23. This was the hardest part of the job. Even with the X61A unbolted and the X5 removed - there was VERY little wiggle room.  I added back up lights that I want to come on with my cargo lamp - but when I would check continuity between S48A-X1 pin 18 to its respective landing point on the X61A-X5 it triggers the factory relay… Instead I opted for a add-a-fuse on the passenger interior fuse panel (fuse location 10 - cargo lamp) and ran it through the boot on the driver side to my load. Did this to avoid introducing any electrical gremlins.   Note: Please check for continuity between the S48A-X1 and the X61A-X5. In my case wire colours were not the same as other’s who have posted. To do a continuity check you need a Multimeter. Completely disassemble the S48A-X1 and remove the brown face plate off the X61A-X5 by way of a flat head screwdriver - this was the only way I could get any results.   The outputs, terminal 87 of the relays, were fed into a junction box and landed at Individual studs and were labelled Aux 1-4.    At this point, all you need to do is run wire to your loads and bring them to ground. I created a negative bus in the engine bay, all my negatives land here.    For anyone having issues with all of your new aux switch lights coming on with the press of one - I noticed this only to be an issue when the battery wasn’t hooked up to my relays? No idea why, but it was quickly corrected by having my system buttoned up and functional.
    • Well I ordered the Autel ts508, and it won't work on my truck I tried all the 2023 and everything it just says vehicle not supported lol   I'm able to send this unit back, so I'm going to do that, then I'll just stop into a some tire shops and if none of them are able to do it, I guess ill have to spend a bunch of money to get a good scanner..... Thanks GM lol
    • Don't need the air tube but that's how everyone sells them. Most places won't remove that one piece and sell it alone. No money to be made. Hoping someone swapped theirs out for a CAI and no longer wants it. Not asking anyone to give it away. Offering to buy it but I don't need the tube. It's held on by a hex head screw and nut. Been all over eBay.
    • Wait, you guys are changing your oil???
