Suggestions for S-10 Improvements

My son left for Parris Island yesterday and left his S-10 in my care.  This is a '02 Indigo Blue std. cab, SL, 4.3, posi, Truxedo, & Line-X.  It's a nice truck, but needs more power and sound authority.  I'm thinking new exhaust and air induction.  He's going to put a stereo in it later, so I want some more cabin volume but don't want to overwhelm him with resonance.  Suggestions?

K & N FIPK will do good to start out with as will a Hypertech PP3 and 160 degree thermostat.

 

Exhaust would put a nice finsh on it by letting it breath after the other mods.

 

Of course you could always bypass the intake and reprogrammer,spend a few thousand more and get the ATI Procharger.

 

That's pretty much the ultimate bolt on for a 4.3 and one that I want to go with badly but I'm counting beans right now.

I'd like to budget about $500.  He'll deserve it for completing boot camp.

Custom exhaust and FIPK are going to take up the brunt of that budget.The Hypertech PP3 would add about another 300-350.

I would concur.  Cat-back and FIPK.  I got robbed on my FIPK, ask around for a good price before you buy ( you can save $100).

Got mine for $195 shipped to my door a year and a half ago.Not too bad.

Keep an eye on zr2.com as they run gp's over there a lot and usually 2 or 3 for FIPKs per year.
