265's vrs Stock 235's

[03GMCSierra4.8L]

When I replace the tires (currently 235-75R16's) I would like to put 265-75R16's on. I took a measurement and the 265's are 1.5 inches bigger on the Diameter.

 

What affect will this have on my 3.42 ratio ? and will I suffer noticeably in the towing that I do with it?

I am goin' to 255s from stock 235s and it won't make much difference at all, AND I'm goin' an inch bigger..

It'll overlap the wheel/rim more. With the 265, I'm guessing you'll get poorer handling/cornering w/ the oem wheels.

Thanks for the link! Told me all I needed to know. I will make the change when I am down in tread in the next year as it wont impact the ratio that much and give me more "meat" on the road.

i didnt notice a real big difference with going to the larger tire (265 to 285), maybe .5 mpgs or so - nothing drastic though.

 

i do adjust the mileage for the larger size when i figure the mpg...
