GM Running Boards

Been considering nerf bars and/or running boards.

I found some OEM running boards for an extended cab. They go wheel-to-wheel, but appear to be cab-mounted.

I assume I'll have to paint them body color as they incorporate a bit of a flair on the rear wheel well.

Does anyone have a pic of their truck with the OEM running boards?

Will they be low enough to be useful on a Z71? They don't appear to extend too far down.

Any good/bad experiences with them?

I personally like the nerf look better than OEM add on's.

The OEM's I have seen make the truck appear to have been lowered :chevy: whether it was or not.

I also prefer the look of the nerfs, and I do like that they typically bolt to the frame rather than the cab.

However, one of the reasons I got an extended cab was to be able to haul Grandma around and I'm worried that she'll slip over the nerf tubes, especially during the winter.

The running boards seem to have something of a "back" to them, like a step and they're full-length so accuracy in stepping is less of an issue.

Good point...

My wife is always missing the step too... I approach more from the rear driver door so I always hit mine. Entering from strait on does create a little miss-step I have found...

Heres mine click the link below. I like them i want the lowered look, but becareful where or how you drive i was in the field once and accidently clipped a rock and it damaged a small part of it.

also you should put some 3M protective film on the front of the rear wheels as mine collected a few rock chips and make sure who ever puts them on lines them up correctly the first time!

Thanks Kevin, but I keep getting the message "The File You Are Looking For Is Inaccessible." on your pics.

I'll try again later, maybe its a tempoary Yahoo problem.

Hmm mine came with the nerf bars... but I excited through a mild ditch one day and scraped/bent the passenger side--- i dont' care for eithere because I think they make the truck sit lower. Unfortuneately, the passenger side is the side I need to keep on because i have a short old lady. :D I have re-tightned and used some creative tools to "bend" it straight again-- its hard to tell and since they are stainless I didn't lose my paint.
