txpkup Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 can I fit 295s on a stock Z71 as long as I put Ford keys on it? I think it should work fine but I want to make sure. Probably crank about 2" in front. Also can my NTB tire guy install the keys? I really don't have any experience with torsion bars or keys. I just like the "nose up" look and believe the higher the better. maybe later do blocks or add-a-leafs in the back. oh and one more question, is it likely that a ford dealer around my area will have them already in stock or is it one of those "don't bother unless ordered" things? Thanks in advance!
HvyChevyZ71 Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 you can clear those tires with just a twist of the tbars, theyre not really much bigger than a 285 and no wider, well .02" but they should clear find, especially if your gonna use keys. THe ford dealership will have the keys in stock but i dunno part numbers. Any decent mechanic should be able to intall them, not much to it.
curly Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Anyone with some HEAVY duty c-clamps should be able to change your keys. The guy that did mine was a mechanic at a friends shop and he usually did alignments. It took him about 25 mins. to finish. He told me I could get around 1 1/2" more "safely". My local Ford dealer had to order the keys (which took a few days to get in). I am now debating blocks in the rear and turning the bars up some more. Post some pics of your 295's if your get them!!
txpkup Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 Thanks everyone. Yeah I'll be sure and do some before and after pics
