CD player / Storage pocket question

For those that have the little storage compartment in place of the CD player in the lower, front console, is the hole in the console the same size as the one with the CD player?  I guess I'm asking if there is a difference in the trim panel depending on whether you have the little cubby hole or the cd/tape player?  If you take the CD player out, will the cubby hole fit in it's place?

Thanks.

I think in the '00 and up the CD is in the head unit and the cassette is in the console...  I didn't have the cassette option in my '00 and there was a cubbyhole there, but I don't really remember about the size...  The CD was in the head unit on that truck...

Thanks Shaners.

Mine is just the opposite, cassette in the head unit and cd down below.  I never listen to cassettes and I may get a Pioneer DEH-P77DH head unit (possibly a Christmas gift) and if I do, I'm wanting to remove the cd player in the console and put the cubbyhole in there.

Tom, I just got my console from the junkyard and I'm not going to be needing the front half, so I'll tinker around with it to see what I can do with it.  It's a lot easier when it's not in the truck.  I'm thinking about trimming mine back so it will fit in the truck with the 4x4 floor shifter, if it does mine will be one of a kind.

Thanks Smitty.  Did you get the little cubbyhole thing and put in there or did you just add the EQ in the empty spot?  If you added the cubbyhole, do you have the part number?

yes the same they are the same. but its alot cooler to put something else in. i found that my scanner radio was a perfect fit for the hole. just fabbed some brackets and popped it right in.

I figure if I do get the stereo, I'll put the cubby hole thing in until I find something else to add in there.

Thanks for the info guys.

BTW Smitty,  your set up looks good.
