Windsheild Wipers

Recommended Posts

Guys and Gals,

I recently purchased a 93 1500 Chevy and when I go to use the wipers on delay, or just on. They act like this....

On delay they will continually swipe, after a few miles they work right. Sometimes they take a minute to come on. And sometimes they work OK. Do you think I have a switch problem or a wiper motor problem?

And has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks for the Help.

Brian

If you look back through the old posts you will find other complaints like yours, the problem is usually the circuit board on the wiper motor. the circuit board can be purchased separately so you don't have to buy the whole motor assembly. the circuit board is under the black cover on the motor assembly.

Hey Guys,

My 92 Silverado does the exact same thing as yours does.  I took it apart today and then put it back together.  It doesn't work at all know.  It just makes a humming noise, which I don't think is good.  I went to www.thedieselpage.com and couldn't find anything on how to repair it.  By the way, where can you just buy the circuit board.  I went down to the parts store and they said that I had to buy the whole wiper motor.

Thanks for any help

The wiper motor circuit boards are available from Chevrolet dealers. The last one I replaced for a friend was roughly ?.00 with our parts discount. He was later reimbursed by Chevrolet for the board and the install because they had a recall on the circuit board. Check with your dealer.

Hey Guys,

I took apart the wiper motor circuit board today.  I had to look very closely at all of the solders.  I did find a couple that were bad.  So, I got the soldering gun out and fixed them up.  It works perfectly.  While everything was out, I put grease in the motor gear as well.  Now if I could only figure out why my defroster isn't working right, I would have a perfect truck.

Talk to you guys later,
