getting a sierra

im buying a 04 sierra pretty soon. maybe within couple of days.

im getting one with a v8 for sure but im not sure if i should get the 4.8 or the 5.3L engine. are there alot of power difference or mpg difference? thanks alot.

As far as the 4.8/5.3 difference,I just traded a '99 ext.cab shortbed Z71 with the 4.8 and got basically the same truck with the 5.3 and I've noticed no difference at all in power or mileage,and I've driven alot of these trucks here at the dealership and I can never tell which engine they have just by driving them.

Maybe its just me but I see no difference at all!!!

If you're planning to do any towing, I'd recommend the 5.3L because of the extra torque (330 vs 295 lb-ft). The 4.8L is a great engine and reasonably economical, but the 5.3 is a better towing engine.
