Locking diff in front?

Was wondering if I can put a locking diff (ARB, Eaton, Auburn) in the front of a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500?

 

Are they made for 8 1/4 diffs?

 

Do I have to get manual hubs?

 

I was wanting selectable diffs front & rear if possible

Absolutely, a guy I worked with had a locker in the front of his '01 Z-71, although I don't know which one he had. Fully selectable, no other mods needed. The best one I've seen is this:

Eaton E-Locker

Pushbutton control and nothing else needed.

No one makes a Locker for the 8.2" 1500 Front Axle. Only the 7.2" S10/S15 and the 9.5" 1500HD, 2500, 2500HD and 3500HD are strong enough to support a locker. Sorry.

 

Too much truck for a small casing.
