Defective filler neck?

I've only filled up our 04 Envoy about three or four times now and the past two times I've done it the filler neck has overflowed allowing gas to run all over the outside of the rear quarter and then a small amount spills out from the drain hole under the filler neck behind the quarter panel. It's been at two different stations and the pump has shut off but not soon enough to keep the gas from spilling. Is it possible the filler neck is defective or is this common? I've never had a car overflow and spill several ounces of gas on the body and ground. Thank god the muffler is on the other side of the truck.....

I've seen this problem on another thread, so you are not the first to experience it. Can't remember the fix, think maybe replacement of filler neck.

Is there a TSB on it? I noticed a little spill too, as did my wife, when filling up her Envoy.

Yes, there is a TSB on it....

 

Our Rainier had the same issue, they have to install two separate parts of the filler neck to fix the problem, make sure they order both parts, our dealer only ordered the one, got the truck half way done and realized they forgot to order a part

 

 

So... yes, just take it to the dealer and they will fix it
