trans cooler lines - difficult

Just installed a B&M supercooler. The line that runs to the metal transmission line is being difficult. The rubber line from the kit barely fits over the nippled end of the metal line. Right now, I have the hose just a tad over the rim/nipple and then clamped across the rim/nipple. Was ok driving to work, but methinks it may not last forever. How can I coax this line over the nipple? I had thought about replacing that particular line with a slightly larger piece. Anyone else have this trouble?

I don't know what to tell you but my Supercooler kit comes in on Tuesday so I'll let you know if I have the same trouble. Does the kit come with brass fittings for the radiator and the metal lines? What's included?

Mine got to me today. Must have shipped real quick. Anyway, I installed it this evening with no problems. I used the barbed brass fittings that came with the kit. The male one I installed directly to the threaded hole in the radiator and the female one I installed right on the fitting that usually goes in the radiator. Then I inserted the quick-release fitting into that. Worked very well and no leaks. The only problem I had was that the space around my K&N FIPK is a little tight but with some adjusting I was able to run the lines through. The rubber hoses fit just fine on everything. Added about 1/2quart ATF and was done.

Its a pain but it will go on there. It took me a few minutes but I got it. You can cut that barb off but I didnt want to get metal shavings anywhere near the tranny fluid.

az, good fix on the hose-tube connection. Boy do I feel dumb! I didn't even try think to try that! I figured the extra fittings were for other applications. I double checked my directions and it does not even mention that fitting. Says to slide the hose over the metal line. One would think a company such as B&M would have resolved this problem already. I'm gonna fix mine the az way tomorrow.

Do you guys have pictures of your installs? I plan to do this on my Sierra very soon, since it is used to tow my race car (getting my HD cluster very soon :devil: ). Also, could you please describe the oil cooler fitting problem better? I may be able to correct or amend the 'instructions' with the needed changes. :devil:

I neglected to take pictures, but the mounting of the cooler (on the cross bar in front of the A/C condenser) is straight forward. Once you get you grille off you'll see. As for the hose fitting, the stock fitting is a quick disconnect type. The metal end of the line fits into a metal fitting in the stock radiator trans cooler and is held with a c-clip. The supercooler kit comes with a brass fitting with a long nipple that replaces this stock fitting. A rubber (reinforeced) hose connects on the brass fitting and to the cooler. As for the other rubber hose line, B&M says to slide the hose over the metal line (that was disconnected), but instead take another brass fitting with a long nipple end from the B&M kit and screw the stock quick disconnect fitting into it. Connect the metal line into the stock fitting side and secure with the stock c-clip. Connect the hose to the brass nipple on the other side. Easy.

 

Hope that is not too confusing.
