I am having a problem with my dishwasher. It almost sounds like the motor is frozen. You turn it on and you can hear that the motor has power but it will not run. Any ideas how to fix it?

Check to see if the float switch is stuck in the up position, this will not let water into the washer. Does water enter? Does it just hum, with no water coming in?

Where is the float switch at? Somewhere by the lower wash arm? There is some water in the bottom of it like 2" or so. I think last night I was able to get some water to come in some of the times that I was turning it on. But for the most part it wouldn't let any water in. The motor make a humming sound like when you hold a ceiling fan blade and the motor is trying to turn it. Also when I was turning the switch around in the different cycles you could hear something I think it is part of the drain system, when I took the kick panel off it would move up and down by the motor.

Sounds like your motor is forzen. Dishwashers are easy to work on. Just have to take it one step at a time. They are not to hard to remove and then you can get to everything easier. Basically all the ones that I have messed with you just disconnect the water line and the power and remove any anchor screws around the top and or bottom and you can just slide it right out.

I'm not great at over the net trouble shooting. If I was there I could check it out. I have gone as far as to call an appliance service center when I got to a point that didn't make sense. They have always pointed in the right direction, but then again I live in a small town. Might be different in the big city areas.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Hey Silverado make sure that the push button controls are set in the positions you want. One time ours got two pushed in at one time and it acted up but I don't remember what it did. The float is on the right front corner when you open the door. make sure it can go up and down. Hope this helps

Yeah I know they are prettty easy to install I've installed a couple before. I just wanted to make sure that I was heading down the right path with my troubleshooting. How much do you think a new motor would be? I don't want to have to put a lot of money into it when I could get a new one for close to that same price as the replacement part. I usually call an appliance place to to guide me in the right direction but I thought I ask the board to see if they have any insight. That might be a good idea on the buttons on the control panel I'm going to have to look at it when I get home tonight.

I was working on it last night and turned the fan one the motor with my hand I did that for a few revolutions finally it felt like it broke free. So I tried it and it worked but now I have another problem I beleive the pump is now leaking back into the fan area and is dripping out the bottom. I guess next week will be taking it apart. Is there a gaskit or something that is in the pump or the something in that area that might be bad? If this is going to cost me more that $55 I'm just going to let the home warranty take care of it. I just remembered that we have a 1 year warranty on the house from when we bought. Thanks for your help I'm now one step closer to getting it fixed.

Yeah I found that sight but didn't tell me a hole lot about my problem or else I'm not looking in the right place. Sears actually has an exploded diagram of the pump and motor. It doesn't look like it is something that is going to get fixed without a new pump. :tear:

Explode..funny you chose that word. When you try to take the pump apart all the cheap plastic tangs and snaps break off. Don't go get a pump till the old one is in your hand. You'll end up buyin 1/2 the bottom end of the machine....BEST BUY sale starts on Sunday...you already know whats gonna happen
