wheel nut size?

this may not be the brightest question in national history,

but what size socket have you guys found to fit the lug

nutz on the rado?

dealership says they use a 22mm.

I'm not for sure, but I think it is a 7/8" for the aluminum wheel lugs on a 1500. My Welds have 13/16" lugs. I haven't noticed any slipping tighteneing either ones.

I have taken my tires off quite frequently (for shocks, brake squeak)

 

7/8 socket is what i use.  Fits like a glove

 

ive used this with an impact wrench and breaker bar.  Works fine and there is no slip whatsoever

7/8" and 22 mm are very close in size with the 22 mm being a little less than 9 thousands of an inch (.0088) smaller.  In other words, 22 mm is about 1% smaller than 7/8".

thanx for the replies. went out to buy impact type sockets,

and didn't want to buy a 22mm if was indeed 7/8, so i

bought both anyways.

LOL!!!  I'm sorry we didn't really answer your question directly, but either will work fine.  The 7/8" socket really only has .0044 inch per side bigger.  Heck, I bet the tolerance on the lugs themselves are +/- .002"...  Actually there are some other standard and metric sizes which are approx the same too...
