UPDATE: I'm still waiting

Hey guys,

Here's what the dealership is offering:

They are trying to locate another truck, new, 04/05 that is exactly as mine. The owner has called in some favors to get me into a new truck at the same payment I have.

As of right now, they can't find another truck exactly like mine, and they are $1,600 short of keeping the same payment I have.

I've talked with a few people and they don't think I'm getting anything special. I will have 5 years of payments instead of the 3 years I have left now.

They said they would give me $15,000 for mine as a trade in. I am assuming after my loan is paid off they will use the balance on this new truck.

I called the dealership and they said there is a GM supplier incentive for my truck at $26,754. If you get financing through GMAC you get another 1,500 off, and there is a 1,500 rebate. I don't know what favors they are getting, they didn't specify.

I am going to call the saleman again tomorrow. I need an answer, I am tired of waiting, plus I don't want to fix anything else on my daughter's car, this week was a leak from the power steering pump.

The price they need to get to is 18,500 in order to give me the same deal on my truck and have the same payment.

What do you guys think?

I'd do a little online research to get the value of your truck currently. Also, you know what your payments are and if you can afford to go a few more years with them. That being said, due to all the drama with your current truck, I'd try to cut your losses and get into a new one with the warranty and all. The same applies with the new truck though too...do your homework and price one online as well as at the dealers near you. You've come this far, you don't need to get bent over while they try and get their "out"

Hmm, sounds like they're selling you a new truck. May be a good deal, but I don't know. But like 99silveradoz71 said, you'll be back in with a warranty and you'll cut your losses.

Get them to throw in a couple of dealer certificates. They can and did for me and I bought with GM Supplier pricing. That was worth another $1000. Also, take their financing and immediatley re-finance with your bank or credit union. The dealer can take the hit for you refinancing within 90 days. Serves em right.

I would also hit them hard for an extended warranty.

I looked up the value on Kelley Blue Book:

Trade in $15,455

They are pretty close. I will try and price some more out. I really was hoping this would be quick and painless, but it's been 5 days since they suggested this "switch" I guess I just want to be done with it. It's been a very long road with this.

I got the notice for the the tailgate straps too. I'm not even gonna worry about it.

I would try for private party pricing on kbb. YOU do not want to trade your truck. If you could and wanted to sell it you would not ask trade in value. So I don't see a real "favor" I see it as a fairly good deal except you do not like the chevy front end (it does grow on you). Look at the GMC and decide which one you like better.

Many people trade in vehichles and keep about the same payment, so he is doing nothing. request a LOWER payment since 2 yrs are being added and 5 years instead of 3 means you have to change long term financial goals due to a defective truck.

I wish you luck.

I agree if there not giving you something for all the bulls##t you have gone thru go to another dealer or try another brand.Every dealer around right now is looking to give great deals to move there leftover 04's on the lots. You can also use chevys dealer locater to browse thru all the dealers around you, so you dont have to wait for them to get off there a## to find something for you gmbuypower.com is another.

Seems to me like they are trying to get you to buy a new truck so they don't have to put up with the hassle anymore.

The only problem I see with you keeping the truck is that now that it has been in the shop like 300 times that will show on the GM database and make your trade-in and resale plummet.

As far as them giving you $15K on your trade-in, doesn't sound that great to me. You could drive in with a 98 and ask about buying a new truck and a dealer will show you $12K trade in on it. They manipulate the pricing to make it look like they are giving you tons for your trade when they are really giving you the SHAFT.

Hope you find a way out of this headache, but this doesn't sound like a good deal to me.

What deal are they giving you that anybody with the same trade in vehicle cant get? Ask them, and shop around first, tons of new trucks sitting on dealers lots begging to be bought!

For all the CR#P they put you through I would make them give you a 7-70 extended warranty for free! They can easily do that, they were already offering you a 3-36 for free as I recall on the mess they created for you. As everyone else pointed out there are tons of leftover 04s beggin to be bought. My guess is they figured you were so frustrated you would just jump at any offer they made. Maybe if it were an 05 this would be a better deal but with all the incentives, all the leftover 04s and all the hassle you went thru I would want a better deal than the average Joe coming in off the street. Plus now you have a few more years of payments than you planned on, shop around, spend the weekend seeing what other dealers can offer you. If you buy from them try your best to get them to included a free warranty, they have a few of these a year to hand out free with no consequence. Good luck, have fun shopping and dump the headache :P:nono:

DUMP IT !~ I know it sucks to have to even come up with a few more bucks.

But YOUR piece of mind and SANITY will be worth it !

The dealer won't give you top $$$ for yours because its off to AUCTION with a

dealer buy back waver attached. So it won't sell for much !

I wouldn't even try to sell it yourself !!!!! Neither will the dealer................

Pick out a nice new color....So you have more payments...WHO don't?

But its new and NO headaches......good luck........geo

You guys are the greatest!

I called Mark, the salesman. Told him I have to make a decision. He had me come in and look at listings on 2 vehicles that were pretty close to mine. He asked if I would like a Colorado..........said no thanks...........full size.

He said they still needed to find 1,600 in order to keep my payments the same. The one that was $344 per month was almost like mine except it had that 60/40 bench seat. The other one had my bucket seats, driver side power only, and had a few extra's like bose speakers, electric mirrors, temp. and compass, fog lights, but that one would be $375/month.

I told him I had to call my GM rep and let him know what was going on because I hadn't talked to him in a couple of weeks. He suggested that since GM was willing to buy an extended warranty for mine, maybe they would be willing to kick in some certificates towards the purchase of a new one.

I called my GM rep. last night, I am so glad I did because last night was his last night in that department, he's being transferred. I explained what happened when I called the owner of the dealership and they are trying to get me a new truck. I told him they are shy $1,600 on getting me the same payment.

My GM rep. said "well how about I send you $2,000 worth of certificates to get you into your new truck" I told him DO IT!

So it looks like the only thing I have lost is 2 years of payments on my truck, which I can't say I lost because I drove the vehicle 2 years and would have paid to lease it, right?

I will have a new 2005 Silverado, Black of course with a few more options than mine.

I AM SO HAPPY THIS HAS COME TO AN END! THE LAST CHAPTER OF THIS BOOK WILL BE WHEN IT'S IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I TAKE PICTURES OF IT TO POST ON HERE. :P

I am so relieved, I just have to call the saleman and tell him I should have the certificates by Nov. 3 and we can finalize all this.

We all need to get together for a cyber beer, cheers to all my wonderful friends here that have supported me throught all this poo :nono:
