Please let me know how long your are going between oil changes. No matter if you are using conventional or synthetic motor oils. Thank You!

Using M1 5W30 and change out the filter when the oil life monitor comes on and top of with a qt. of fresh. Going on over 14K on the original M1. Probably will do a complete drain about 30K.

Wow. Thats a long time.

I go every 5k with Mobile 1 10w-30. My dad goes every 3k with conventional 10w-30 Castrol GTX.

I change the oil in it every 3K no matter what. I use Mobil1 5W-30 full synthetic fluid. Motor doesn't even use a quart between changes. Darn reliable motor.

I am using the GM Oil Life Monitor and it was 9300 miles last change. I will use the monitor until the warranty is up and then likely go longer with Amsoil ATM and Baldwin filters. I will change filters every 6 months if the oil lasts longer and the oil at least once a year. I had the oil analized after 9300 miles and it was almost as good as new but rated as a 40W instead of a 10W30. I am not sure how that would affect cold starts but I changed to 5W30 for the winter. Being a synthetic with a low pour point it may not bother cold starts much anyway.

Sort of reminds me.... a LONG time ago, like the late 70s when Mobil 1 first came out, we put about 24,000 miles on one of the farm's trucks per oil change. The other vehicles, such as the family car, we changed oil at about 12,000 miles. Kept the cars on average about 5 years, and then they were traded off for some cheap econo-POSes because of the Arab oil embargo against the U.S in 1979 (???).

Had no lubrication-related issues with truck, even when it went past 200,000 miles.

The body was another story....

I did my first one at 3k. I'll go to 5k now on conventional oil which is still way under the suggested intervals.
