Underhood Toolbox

Hoping someone can tell me how to remove my underhood toolbox. It's a 97' Z-71 w 350. On the driver's side, opposite the battery is a factory toolbox that I need to remove to get to the headlites. I'll be dam#$ed if I can get that thing out. I've removed the bolt on the bottom and it wobbles around, but still can't get it out. Not sure if there's still another bolt or snap type bracked tha I can't see/find or if the shop that repaired damage on that side years ago did something odd.

Appreciate any help.

Thanx

I got mine from the dealer and ordered the nut and the bolt needed to complete the install

When I bought my '99 it did not have one. A coworker had a '96 with one, I thought it was neat soooo I ordered one for my '99 at the dealership for around $50.00 tops for everything. I have the part numbers for everything you need if anyone is interested.

Best I can remember, there is 2 bolts coming from the wheel side of the inner fender well and two bolts at the bracket mounted against the control center.

I don't keep tools in mine, but I carry a qt. of oil (never needed!), a qt. of tranny fluid (never needed either!). an old serpentine belt (will probably never need since I have a back-up, but that's OK), and several shop rags in a ziplock baggy.

I am no sure how to take the tool bx out, but I would like to have a box for my 98.  Anyone know where I can get one?

Here are the part numbers:

qty./ item/ part# / list/ net

1 Container, 15737693 / 12.34 / 9.25

1 Container Cover, 15740047 / 14.54 / 10.91

4 Plt Luggs, 12387477 / 3.60 / 2.70 x4= 10.80

4 Bolt, 11509024 / .95 / .71 x4= 2.84

/

A grand total of 33.80 plus tax.

My '99 did not require the support bracket (p#15031561), it was listed for a '96 model and the list price was 32.35, net 24.26.

It took all of 15 minutes to install and fills the void where my second battery tray was located.

These prices were in March of '02 so they may have risen slightly.

Hold on a sec here, why would you have to take the box out to get to the headlight?? If you are changing a bulb, just pull the pins!! :flag:
