rear winch

I am new to this board I bought a 02 Z71 3 weeks ago and am trying to do some things to it. I was just wandering if anyone has ever installed a winch in the rear of their truck? If so do you have pics?

When I was looking for a winch I found a set up by warn that has a frame with a 2 inch stock for the receiver. I installed a receiver in the front and can move the winch to the front or rear. I ran the cable to the rear bumper and installed a switch to activate the cable. It is also good as I made a set of jumper cables to match the wiring harness so can run the jumpers from the front or rear hookup :flag: So far it has worked great. I don't have to try to turn around to use the winch when needed.

Don' have pics yet. I currrently have a Mile Marker hydraulic winch that is set up this way, but haven't mounted it to this truck yet. It definitely comes in handy to be able to have one on either front or back. There is also a universal receiver mount kit for any winch. Just make sure that you don't go over a 9000 lb rating winch with this type of mount. You are limited by the receiver hitch(es). For the class III, it is typically rated for 9k to 10k lbs max (depending on manufacturer). For choosing an adequate sized winch, you must size the winch rating to at least 1.5 times the max weight you intend to carry off road. The rating goes down by 12% per wrap of the wire around the spool.

The one by Warn is the Multi Mount kit.

Well I am going to use the warn XD9000i off of my GMC truck, I should have some pics in the next few weeks, we are building a rear crossmember under the back that will bolt to the frame , and going to cut a hole right behind the license tag , put a alluminum guid with the new seynthetic rope, and put a tag bracket with a spring where I can just pull the tag down and pull the cable out, we are going to mount the plug for the remote on the left side of the plate and it will all be hidden. I think it will work well. thanks for the replies.
