Any Canoers/Kayakers out there?

My question is how does everyone transport their canoe's or kayak's? Other than the bed of course, I fill the bed with the camping gear, just curious as to what rack options are available for the kayak's/canoes?

 

PS. Rear hitch out of the question, is has my SportWorks Mtn. Bike rack.

There are a couple of companies (I cannot think of the brand names) that make racks that you can adjust the span. Seem like a pretty good idea because you can slide both racks all the way forward out of the way when not in use.

The one company/brand I see most of around here is Yakima.

 

I'm not too sure if they make an application for pick-ups though....

I have a 17' aluminum canoe...looking for an economical way to transport on the pick up....some friends have white water kayaks...but they are short...around 6 ft or so and could easily fir into a short bed.
