Service 4WD Message Light

Thanks to the advice provided from Forum members regarding the "Service 4WD" message my truck was intermittently displaying my problem is solved.

Symptom was that after driving about 5 minutes the Service 4WD message would light up in my message center.

Posted this asking for advice and several members stated it was 99% certain the problem was with the dash mounted AutoTrac/4WD switch (i.e., the push button transfer case selector switch). They also informed me Gavin Curtis, the guy who owns Module Master repairs these switches. Module Master is the business that repairs the anti-lock brake modules when they fail for pennies compared to new.

Sent my switch off to them and Gavin called to infrom me the switch did indeed have "issues." Got the switch back with a one day turnaround on their part and the problem is solved. NO MORE message light.

Best part of the situation is it cost me a total of $17.70. Ten dollars for the repair and $3.85 USPS priority mail shipping each way. What a deal and what a service.

Just thought I'd update you guys on this issue and say thanks for the diagnosis and letting me know that Module Master repairs theses switches. Saved me a bunch of money and didn't have to visit the "stealer." HELL OF A DEAL.

Thanks to all! This is a great Forum.

Did anybody have a loss of tranny fluid or flow out of the vent during the service 4WD light condition? Was the " overflow " fixed by the swith repalcement?

No overflow here. My switch has been replaced twice under warranty by the dealer.
