4L60E problems, Please help!!

I had my trans in my 2000 Z71 rebuilt 2 weeks ago because I had some busted planetaries. It had all new clutches and seals put in and new torque converter. I also had the corvette servo installed. I got it back in and it has been working perfectly for about 2 weeks. I have about 150-200 miles on it since the rebuild. I have noticed alot harder shift from 1st to 2nd and it was also more noticable from 2nd to 3rd. I was driving around yesterday and It would shift into 2nd nice and firm and then I noticed that it was gliding into 3rd. I few miles later it wouldn't even hold in 3rd gear it was slipping so bad. You could ease down on the throttle and the rpm's would flash right up. It basically has no 3rd gear now. Can someone please tell me what is going on with this thing? I pulled it back out yesterday and it is going back to transmission guy today but i was just curious if any of you have ever run into this before?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

You can probably get a quick and thorough answer at www.ls1tech.com. They have a truck section and a section just for auto trans. I've learned alot about our 4L60E's there. I'm sure that if you do a search you'll run into someone who's had the same exact problem.

Keep us posted on how it turns out!

I just spoke with my transmission man....he tore into it this morning and said apparently I had one of the seals around the input shaft to break and in turn starved the rear drum of fluid and burnt the high gear clutches up in it. He said he has never run into it before. He said he must have broke it when he was putting it together.

Thanks,

Jason

In your original post, you said you had it rebuilt. This post sounds like YOU did the work. If you paid a real shop to do the job, they should fix it free! Care must be used when installing most seals in an A/T for this very reason. When offering advice on where to take any electronically controlled tranny, I usually suggest you find a shop where the mechanic who is going to work on your vehicle is certified by ATSG or other reputible group.

Good luck!
